Tawang, Sep 26: Hon'ble MLA Tawang and President of Tawang Badminton Association (TBA), Namgey Tsering, today launched the official jersey of the Tawang Badminton Association at his residence in Tawang.

The programme was attended by In-charge Deputy Commissioner, Tawang, Rinchin Leta; Superintendent of Police, Tawang, Tasi Darang; ZPM Kyidphel Tenzin Monpa; Secretary General, TBA, Dr. Rinchin Neema; and other members of the Association.

Welcoming the dignitaries, Secretary General Dr. Rinchin Neema expressed gratitude to all for taking time to attend the programme. He especially thanked MLA Tawang and TBA President Shri Namgey Tsering for his continuous guidance, encouragement and support to the Association. He also conveyed appreciation to the In-charge Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police for their presence and encouragement.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Namgey Tsering extended his best wishes to the players representing Tawang at the 13th Greater Kameng Badminton Tournament, scheduled to be held at Seppa from 29th September 2026.

Highlighting the significance of the tournament, he said that the Greater Kameng Badminton Tournament is not merely a sporting competition but also an important platform for promoting unity, brotherhood and mutual understanding among the people of the erstwhile Kameng district.

He encouraged people, particularly the younger generation, to devote some time to games and sports as part of a healthy lifestyle, observing that regular participation in sporting activities helps maintain physical fitness, promotes mental well-being and provides a positive outlet from everyday stress.

Addressing the participating players, Namgey Tsering urged them to uphold the highest standards of discipline, sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the tournament. He called upon them to give their best performance and carry the name and sporting spirit of Tawang district with pride.

The jersey launch also served as an occasion to motivate the Tawang contingent ahead of the prestigious inter-district badminton tournament and to wish the players a successful and memorable participation at Seppa. (DIPRO)
