Tezu, Oct 2: A Statewide Mega Health Mela was organised at Tezu on Friday as part of the Government’s health outreach initiative, with the objective of providing accessible, comprehensive and free healthcare services to the people of Tezu Township and adjoining areas. The camp was held from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and brought specialist consultation, screening, diagnostic and preventive healthcare services under one roof.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Baplalum Chiba, ZPM Tezu, as the Chief Guest, in the presence of K. N. Damo, Deputy Commissioner, Lohit District, as Guest of Honour. Senior public leaders, PRI members, dignitaries and officials of the Health Department also attended the programme. 

A wide range of specialist services were made available in Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, ENT, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Dental, Psychiatry, AYUSH and Homoeopathy, besides physiotherapy and other clinical services. Screening for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes was also conducted. Laboratory investigations, ABHA registration and services related to CMAAY/PMJAY were provided to facilitate access to government health schemes. 

Services under NTEP, HIV/NVHCP and NTCP were also provided, along with antenatal and child healthcare, eye and dental screening, mental health and substance-abuse counselling, health awareness activities and distribution of medicines as prescribed by doctors. 

The Mega Health Mela recorded a total footfall of 412 patients. Among the major services availed, 181 patients consulted the Medicine Specialist, 110 availed ENT services, 97 underwent NCD screening, 84 consulted the Surgeon, 73 each availed Gynaecology and Child Specialist services, while 69 patients received Orthopaedic consultation. The health mela provided an important platform for people to access multiple specialist and preventive healthcare services at a single venue, while also creating awareness about early diagnosis, healthy practices and various government health programmes.
