RUPA: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.), interacted with the officers and personnel of the 73rd Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at Shergaon in West Kameng District on 26th July 2026. Drawing upon his vast experience in the Armed Forces, the Governor shared words of encouragement and motivation with the personnel, appreciating their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders and maintaining peace and security in remote areas.

Addressing the SSB personnel, the Governor emphasized that sincerity, discipline, and dedication are the hallmarks of a successful uniformed force. He urged the personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity while discharging their duties, noting that every action of a security force member contributes to strengthening public trust and national security.

The Governor, while extending his greetings to the personnel on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, advised the Force to focus on strengthening and mentoring its junior officers. He emphasized that well-trained, motivated, and professionally competent young leaders form the backbone of any effective force and are vital for maintaining operational excellence, discipline, and high morale. The Governor encouraged senior officers to nurture leadership qualities among the younger ranks, enabling them to shoulder greater responsibilities and uphold the finest traditions of service to the nation.

The Governor commended the battalion for maintaining cordial and constructive relations with the local communities in their area of responsibility. He observed that such people-centric engagement fosters mutual confidence and strengthens the bond between security forces and citizens.

Encouraging the personnel to go beyond their operational responsibilities, the Governor urged them to actively promote sports and physical fitness among local youth, inspire young people to join the Indian Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, and continue spreading goodwill through community outreach initiatives.

Earlier, Deputy Inspector General, SSB Sector Headquarters, Bomdila Shri Kamal Kant, briefed the Governor about role, duty and accomplishments of the SSB along the Indo-Bhutanese border. Shri Chaoba Angomcha, Commandant, 73rd Battalion, SSB, Shergaon was also present on the occasion.

The Governor also joined the personnel in a plantation drive under the campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and collective responsibility towards creating a greener and healthier future for coming generations. (PRO to Governor)
