ZIRO, Sep 26: Adding a meaningful touch of community service to the vibrant atmosphere of the Ziro Festival of Music, a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organised at the Blood Centre of Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital (GTZGH) under the initiative “SevaMeriYagdan.” The drive was organised by the BJP Lower Subansiri Unit in close collaboration with the District Administration of Lower Subansiri and the medical staff at GTZGH as part of the Nationwide Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Drive 2026.

The camp saw enthusiastic participation from local volunteers and festival attendees, with 24 individuals stepping forward to donate. Following thorough health screenings, 9 units of life-saving blood were successfully collected, comprising 3 units of A+, 1 unit of B+, and 5 units of O+. Medical officers noted that 14 willing donors were deferred in accordance with standard health guidelines, and the entire event concluded smoothly with zero adverse donor reactions reported.

The event was graced by key dignitaries, including Kaling Moyong, State BJP President; Dungoli Libang, Vice President; and Hage Appa, Hon’ble MLA for the 17th Ziro-Hapoli Assembly Constituency. The visiting leaders commended the humanitarian initiative, highlighting voluntary blood donation as a vital act of civic responsibility that directly saves lives. They also lauded the seamless coordination between the local organizers, administrative bodies, and healthcare workers in executing the camp during a major cultural festival.

Officials from the Blood Centre at GTZGH expressed deep appreciation to all the donors, volunteers, and organizing team members for their support. They emphasized that such collaborative drives play a crucial role in strengthening the district’s healthcare reserves, while successfully blending the spirit of celebration with social responsibility.
