National voluntary blood donation day 2026 celebrated at Tawang

Tawang, Oct 1: National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2026 was celebrated today at Kalawangpo Hall, General Ground, Tawang, with an aim to promote awareness on the importance of voluntary blood donation and encourage greater public participation in this life-saving humanitarian service.
The programme was attended by Zilla Parishad Member, Tawang, Sonam Norzin as Chief Guest Assistant Commissioner Tenzin Jambey as Guest of Honour and Commanding Officer, Field Hospital, Tawang, as Special Guest, along with health officials, representatives of voluntary blood donor organisations and other participants.
The programme began with the National Anthem followed by the Voluntary Blood Donation Pledge and inauguration of the Blood Donation Camp.
Delivering the welcome address, District Medical Officer, Tawang, Dr. T.D. Namsa welcomed the guests and participants and highlighted the significance of voluntary blood donation in ensuring timely availability of safe blood for patients in need.
Dr. Joram Khopey, Deputy Director, State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), Directorate of Health Services, Naharlagun, gave a brief overview of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2026 and the prevailing scenario of blood transfusion services in Arunachal Pradesh.
On the occasion, voluntary blood donor organisations were felicitated in recognition of their valuable contribution towards promoting the cause of blood donation.
Addressing the gathering, Special Guest Commanding Officer Field Hospital Indian Army emphasised the humanitarian value of blood donation and encouraged eligible citizens to come forward voluntarily to help save lives.
Chief Guest Sonam Norzin appreciated the contribution of voluntary blood donors and organisations working towards the noble cause and appealed to the people, particularly the youth, to develop a spirit of voluntary blood donation and inspire others to participate.
The programme also featured a group song and traditional dance presented by Ketchengha Cultural troupe, Tawang.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Tenzin Kunga, Medical Superintendent, KDS District Hospital, Tawang, followed by a photo session. (DIPRO)
