Chongkham, Namsai, Sep 26: A Mega Free Health & Medical Camp was organised under the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan – Sewa Diwas at Arunachal Pali Vidyapeeth, Chongkham, Namsai District, on September 25, 2026.

The programme was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Chowna Mein, in the presence of Hon’ble MLA, Namsai, Chau Zingnu Namchoom; Hon’ble MLA, Lohit, Dr. Mohesh Chai; Deputy Commissioner, Namsai, Shri Lobsang Tsering; Deputy Commissioner, Lohit, Shri K.N. Damo; Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Namsai, Chow Sujana Namchoom; Smti Basanlu Dellang, ZPC Lohit;Superintendent ofPolice,Namsai;ADC Chongkham;ZPM-Chongkham/Lekang; ;  Heads of Offices and  officials and large numbers of public

In his welcome address, the District Medical Officer outlined the objectives of the health camp and emphasised the importance of providing accessible and quality healthcare services to the people.

During the programme, the Deputy Chief Minister felicitated members of the Health Society in recognition of their contribution towards strengthening healthcare services and supporting the organisation of the health camp.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, Namsai, highlighted the importance of the Mega Health Camp and the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan in taking essential healthcare services closer to the people. He encouraged the public to make maximum use of healthcare facilities being provided free of cost in the camp.

Addressing the gathering, MLA, Lohit, Dr. Mohesh Chai, expressed concern over HIV and drug abuse in the region. He called for coordinated efforts towards prevention, awareness, early detection, counselling and treatment, while stressing the importance of creating awareness about available healthcare facilities and services.

MLA, Namsai, Chau Zingnu Namchoom, highlighted the  facilities and services being provided to the people and appreciated the efforts of the Health Department and other stakeholders.

He further highlighted that the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan – Sewa Diwas is being observed from September 17 to October 17, 2026, with a focus on public service, community participation and welfare-oriented activities.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Chowna Mein highlighted the objectives of the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan and called for greater awareness and utilisation of available government healthcare facilities and schemes. He emphasised the need to take healthcare services closer to the people and reach every doorstep, ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are able to avail themselves of healthcare services and government schemes.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the government is committed to providing quality healthcare facilities to the people and continuously upgrading the infrastructure of District Hospitals, Community Health Centres and Primary Health Centres. He also emphasised the need to address shortages of medical personnel and strengthen the availability of healthcare professionals, particularly in remote and rural areas, so that people can access essential healthcare services closer to their homes.

The Deputy Chief Minister also visited various health facilities and service stalls set up under the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan. He interacted with healthcare personnel, beneficiaries and volunteers and took stock of the services being provided.

The Mega Free Health & Medical Camp witnessed active participation from healthcare personnel, government officials, local representatives and members of the public, reflecting the spirit of “Sewa Sankalp – Sewa Diwas” and the collective commitment towards public service and community welfare.

The camp provided free health check-ups, medical consultations, medicines, diagnostic services and blood donation facilities to the public. A total of 735 patients availed OPD services, while 39 units of blood were donated during the camp.

DCM Visits Arunachal Pali Vidyapeeth Museum

Following the health camp, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Chowna Mein visited the Pali Vidyapeeth Museum at Chongkham. During the visit, he  took stock of the ongoing works of digitization of age old Manuscripts of Tai-Khamti which is being done under Gyan Bharatam Mission an initiative of the Government of India aimed atidentification,documentation, conservation,,digitization and dissemination of India's rich manuscript heritage.
