Mathematical Thinking Camp MTC-2026 concludes at J N College, Pasighat

PASIGHAT, Oct 4: The five-day residential Mathematical Thinking Camp (MTC-2026), organised by the Department of Mathematics, Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, concluded successfully on 3 October with the participation of 55 meritorious students selected from across Arunachal Pradesh.
The camp featured intensive sessions on mathematical thinking, logic, problem-solving, Olympiad mathematics and artificial intelligence, conducted by eminent resource persons Mr. Birabrata Das Chaudhury, retired Lecturer (SG), Bongaigaon Polytechnic and Working President, Academy of Mathematics, Assam; Mr. Alok Kumar, INMO All India Rank-4 and HBCSE IMOTC participant and AMSP faculty; Dr. Neelabja Chatterjee, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, NERIST, with a PhD from the University of Oslo and postdoctoral experience in Germany; and Mr. Kumar Harsh, Senior Faculty, NIELIT Pasighat, with expertise in AI and Machine Learning.
Addressing the valedictory function, Dr. Gindu Borang, Principal, JNC, lauded the organising team for the successful conduct of the camp and their excellent teamwork in nurturing young talents. He expressed gratitude to the resource persons for accepting the invitation and guiding the young minds. He urged the participants to carry home the logic and techniques learnt during the camp, work upon them for self-improvement, and share their experiences and knowledge with family and friends.
Dr. Leki Sitang, Vice Principal, JNC, assured continued administrative support for such vital academic programmes in the future.
The camp also featured a friendly mathematical competition on 2 October, in which PM Shri JNV Roing secured the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions.
MTC-2026 was sponsored by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), TIFR, with support from the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM). Local support was provided by the IQAC and DBT STAR Programme of JNC. The camp was hosted by the Department of Mathematics, JNC, in academic collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh University, Pasighat, and Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar. (DIPRO)
