Tawang, Aug 24: PM SHRI School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Tawang, organised a series of special project demonstrations under its School Innovation Council (SIC) as part of the observance of National Space Day, celebrated on 23 August 2026.

The initiative provided students with a platform to showcase their creativity, scientific temperament, problem-solving abilities and innovative ideas. Various student-developed models were demonstrated during the morning assembly, encouraging experiential learning and the practical application of scientific concepts.

A major attraction of the showcase was the “Smart Waste Segregation System,” developed and demonstrated by the students. The innovative model focused on promoting proper segregation of waste and responsible waste management through the application of science and technology.

During the demonstration, the students explained the functioning of the system and highlighted its potential role in encouraging cleanliness, recycling and responsible disposal of waste. They also explained how effective segregation at source can contribute towards environmental protection and more sustainable waste-management practices.

Speaking on the occasion, M. L. Meena, Principal, JNV Tawang, appreciated the creativity and efforts of the participating students and the School Innovation Council. He encouraged students to closely observe challenges in their surroundings and use creativity, science, technology and innovation to develop practical solutions.

He emphasised that innovation begins with identifying real-life problems and finding simple, effective and sustainable ways to address them. He further encouraged the students to actively participate in SIC activities and work towards transforming their ideas into useful prototypes capable of benefiting society.

The project demonstration provided valuable exposure to the students in innovation, design thinking, scientific exploration, teamwork and problem-solving, while simultaneously reinforcing the importance of environmental responsibility and sustainable living.

Such initiatives are aimed at nurturing curiosity among young learners and encouraging them to move beyond classroom learning by applying their knowledge to real-world challenges.

The School Innovation Council of JNV Tawang continues to provide opportunities for students to explore new ideas, experiment with innovative concepts and develop practical solutions in the spirit of creativity, sustainability and experiential learning. (DIPRO)
