ITANAGAR, Aug 11: As part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt General KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.), presented National Flags to officials and staff from various departments attached to Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, on 11th August 2026. The programme, an initiative of the Governor, was organized to inspire greater participation in the celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day and to reinforce the values that the Tricolour represents.

Handing over the Tiranga, the Governor urged every official to become an ambassador of patriotism within their families and communities. “As you take home the Tiranga today, carry with it the spirit of national unity, civic responsibility and pride in our great nation. Let every home display the flag and every heart uphold the ideals for which it stands,” he said.

The Governor emphasized that the National Flag is far more than a symbol; it reflects the courage, sacrifice and unwavering determination of countless freedom fighters who secured India’s independence. He encouraged families to proudly hoist the Tiranga and use the occasion to educate children and youth about its history, significance and the enduring values of unity, integrity and service to the nation.

Referring to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Har Ghar Tiranga initiative, the Governor noted that the campaign has become a people’s movement, strengthening the emotional bond between citizens and the National Flag while nurturing a deeper sense of national pride. He also reminded citizens to display the Tiranga with dignity and in accordance with the Flag Code of India. The flag should always occupy a position of honour and never be allowed to touch the ground, be misused as decoration or displayed in a damaged condition.

Stressing responsible stewardship amongst the Lok Bhavan officials, the Governor advised that after the celebrations, the National Flag should be carefully folded, preserved respectfully and, if unserviceable, disposed of in a dignified manner consistent with the Flag Code. (PRO to Governor)
