ITANAGAR: As part of the nationwide celebrations marking the 75th year of Chinmaya Mission,  Swami Mitrananda, who is leading the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra across the North-Eastern region, called on the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.), at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, on 27th July 2026. 

The Chinmaya Amrit Yatra is a significant spiritual and cultural initiative launched by Chinmaya Mission to commemorate its 75 years of service to society. The yatra seeks to carry the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, Vedanta, and the rich cultural heritage of India to people across the country, inspiring individuals to lead lives rooted in values, self-discipline, and national pride.

Welcoming the initiative, the Governor appreciated Chinmaya Mission’s longstanding contribution to spiritual awakening, character building, and the preservation of India’s civilizational ethos. He noted that in an era of rapid technological and social transformation, institutions such as Chinmaya Mission play a vital role in nurturing moral values, fostering inner strength, and promoting harmony in society.

The Governor emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting India’s cultural heritage and indigenous traditions, particularly among the younger generation. He observed that Arunachal Pradesh, with its rich tribal customs, age-old traditions, and vibrant cultural diversity, is an integral part of Bharat’s civilizational heritage. He stressed that safeguarding these traditions while embracing progress is essential for building a strong and culturally confident nation.

The Governor spoke about Arunachal Pradesh’s rich historical legacy and remarkable journey of development. He highlighted that the State, once known as the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA), attained Union Territory status in 1972 and became a full-fledged State on 20th February 1987. He underscored Arunachal’s unique civilizational heritage, reflected in its ancient archaeological sites, vibrant tribal traditions, and enduring cultural values.

The Governor noted that over the decades, Arunachal Pradesh has made significant strides in socio-economic development. Improved road, rail and air connectivity, expansion of educational and healthcare infrastructure, growth in tourism, horticulture, and hydropower sectors, and the implementation of transformative national programmes have accelerated progress across the State. He emphasized that strategic initiatives such as the Vibrant Village Programme, Frontier Highway projects, enhanced digital connectivity, and investments in renewable energy are creating new opportunities for the people, particularly in remote border areas. 

The Governor said that Arunachal Pradesh today stands as a vital pillar of India’s Act East Policy and a model of inclusive growth, balancing development with the preservation of its rich cultural heritage and pristine environment.

Conveying good wishes on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor expressed confidence that the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra would successfully spread the message of unity, spirituality, and service, inspiring citizens to contribute meaningfully towards nation-building and the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
