ITANAGAR, Oct 1: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.), has extended warm greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He expressed his hope that the occasion, which is celebrated as ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’, continues to inspire all to follow the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi ji, who, throughout his life, stood for truth, non-violence, peace and cleanliness.

In his message, the Governor said that Gandhi Jayanti is a day of remembrance and also an opportunity to renew our commitment to the ideals of truth, integrity, self-reliance, and service to humanity. Mahatma Gandhi believed that the true strength of a nation lies in its people, especially its youth. Through his life and actions, he inspired generations to work with courage, discipline, and a sense of purpose for the greater good, he said.

The Governor further said that for Arunachal Pradesh, Gandhiji’s message of self-reliance is particularly relevant. Our State is blessed with immense natural wealth, rich biodiversity, vibrant cultures, fertile land, rivers, forests, horticultural produce, and immense tourism potential. By harnessing these gifts of nature with innovation, entrepreneurship, skill, and hard work, our young people can become the architects of a prosperous and self-sustaining future. As we move towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, let us draw inspiration from Gandhiji’s emphasis on dignity of labour, sustainable living, community welfare, and responsible citizenship. Every young mind empowered through education, every entrepreneur creating value from local resources, and every citizen contributing to social harmony brings us closer to a stronger nation, he said.

On this Gandhi Jayanti, let us pledge to uphold truth and compassion, keep our surroundings clean, rise against social evils and addiction, and dedicate ourselves to building a developed, inclusive, and prosperous Arunachal Pradesh for a Viksit Bharat, the Governor said in his message.
