Coordination meeting for 5th state level archery championship held at Tawang

Tawang, Oct 6: A coordination meeting for the upcoming 5th State Level Archery Championship, scheduled to be held at Tawang from 10th to 12th October 2026, was held today in the office chamber of the In-charge Deputy Commissioner, Tawang.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tawang, Rinchin Leta, and convened to review preparedness and ensure effective coordination among all concerned departments, organising bodies and stakeholders for the successful conduct of the prestigious state-level sporting event.
The meeting was attended by DySP Togum Gonggo, representatives from the PWD, Department of Power (Electrical), Urban Affairs, PHE, Water Resources Department, Department of Food & Civil Supplies, and other concerned departments. President of Tawang District Archery Association (TDAA) Tashi Tsering, Vice President Tenzin Lhendup, and Archery Coach, KIC Tawang, Mohini Kri, also participated in the meeting.
Detailed discussions were held on various aspects of the championship, including venue preparedness, security arrangements, power and water supply, sanitation, transportation, traffic management, logistics and other essential arrangements. All concerned departments and stakeholders were requested to work in close coordination and complete the necessary preparations well in advance to ensure the smooth, safe and successful conduct of the championship.
Speaking on the occasion, TDAA President Tashi Tsering informed that the championship is expected to provide an important platform for archers from across Arunachal Pradesh to showcase their talent, gain competitive exposure and further strengthen the culture of archery and sportsmanship in the state. A total of 12 teams, comprising district teams and Khelo India Centres, are expected to participate in the championship.
He further informed that the best-performing archers from the championship will have the opportunity to represent Arunachal Pradesh at upcoming national-level events. Expressing optimism about the performance of the state's archers, he said that the Tawang District Archery Association and its executive members are hopeful that Arunachal Pradesh will put up a strong performance at the national level.
The President also informed that MLA Nampong Laisam Simai will grace the opening ceremony on 10th October 2026 at the Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Sports Stadium, Tawang.
He further stated that trainee archers of Tawang district are being supported with archery equipment under Operation Sadbhavana by the Indian Army, while the championship is being supported by the Arunachal Archery Association and the Sports Authority of Arunachal Pradesh.
TDAA Vice President Tenzin Lhendup informed that the upcoming archery stadium in Tawang is envisioned to be the first of its kind in India, marking another significant milestone in the development of archery infrastructure in the region.
The District Administration and the organising bodies reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring all necessary arrangements for the championship and expressed confidence that the event will provide a memorable and professionally organised sporting experience for participating archers, officials and sports enthusiasts.
The championship is expected to further promote archery talent, sporting excellence and a strong culture of competitive sports among the youth of Arunachal Pradesh, while placing Tawang on the map as an emerging destination for high-altitude sporting events. (DIPRO)
