Itanagar, July 21: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Arunachal Pradesh, on Tuesday published the Draft Electoral Roll under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026, with more than 7.18 lakh electors participating in the enumeration phase aimed at ensuring an accurate, inclusive and transparent electoral roll.

 According to the Chief Electoral Officer's office, 7,18,046 electors submitted their Enumeration Forms by July 14 out of the 8,87,505 registered electors in the state as on June 2, 2026.

 A total of 1,69,459 Enumeration Forms (19.09 per cent of the registered electorate) remained uncollectable due to various reasons. These include 25,573 deceased electors (2.88%), 54,678 absent or untraceable electors (6.16%), 78,980 permanently shifted electors (8.90%), 4,947 already enrolled elsewhere (0.56%), and 5,281 under other categories (0.60%).

 The claims and objections period commenced on July 21 and will continue till August 20, during which eligible citizens whose names are missing from the Draft Electoral Roll may apply for inclusion, correction or deletion of entries.

 The Election Commission has clarified that no elector's name will be deleted from the Draft Electoral Roll without due process, including issuance of notice and a speaking order by the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO).

 Special emphasis has also been laid on enrolling young voters. Citizens who have attained or will attain 18 years of age on or before July 1, 2026, have been encouraged to enrol using Form 6 along with the prescribed declaration form.

 To facilitate the revision process, the Election Department has established special help desks and facilitation camps across the state. Volunteers have also been deployed to assist senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PwDs) and other vulnerable groups.

 Electors can verify their names and submit applications through the Chief Electoral Officer, Arunachal Pradesh website, the National Voters' Service Portal, the ECINET mobile application, or by contacting their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and District Election Officers (DEOs).

 Applications for new enrolment, correction or deletion may be submitted using Forms 6, 6A, 7 or 8, either online or offline. A declaration form is mandatory along with Form 6 and Form 8. The list of absentee, shifted, duplicate and deceased electors has also been made available for public scrutiny on the CEO's website.

 Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer Pawan Kumar Sain convened a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties at his office in Itanagar to brief them on the findings of the Enumeration Phase of SIR-2026 and formally shared the Draft Electoral Roll.

 Senior IAS officers appointed by the Election Commission as Electoral Roll Observers for Arunachal Pradesh were also present during the meeting and interacted with representatives of political parties to oversee the Special Intensive Revision process and ensure transparency at every stage.
