ZIRO, Sep 12: Community leaders, health workers, and local residents gathered today at Ato Rubu Duku Nelo in Lempia village to launch the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month).

Organized by the Office of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Ziro-I ICDS Project, under the Department of Women and Child Development, the event brought together key regional officials and local families to advance grassroots nutrition and maternal health initiatives across the Lower Subansiri district.

The day’s program featured interactive sessions led by representatives from the Health, Education, Rural Development, Civil Supply, and PHE departments. Speakers focused on practical strategies to improve family health, emphasizing the importance of protein-rich local foods, early childhood stimulation, fresh hot-cooked meals at Anganwadi centers, and navigating financial assistance through the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

Local leadership highlighted the necessity of community ownership and inter-departmental cooperation, with key addresses delivered by CDPO Takhe Rinyo Bullo, chief guest Rubu Tadii (ZPM Lempia), and Millo Tadu (ZPM Tajang).

Attendees also explored a showcase of nutrient-dense local recipes, followed by the direct distribution of nutrition kits to village families by area Anganwadi workers.

The event concluded with a brief speech by Anganwadi worker Rubu Rija, marking a successful start to the month-long campaign running through 8th October, 2026. (DIPRO)
